EV Charging Stations for Homes Rebates Vancouver BC (BC Hydro)

What does the rebate consist of?

To help you get ready for lower carbon transportation options such as electric vehicles (EVs), we’re working with the Province of British Columbia and BC Hydro to offer rebates to BC residents for purchasing and installing an EV charging station at home. Rebates are also available for multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces.

Rebate details

Single-family homes could get a rebate of up to 50 per cent of the purchase and installation costs of an eligible Level 2 EV charger, to a maximum of $350.

The Home and Workplace EV Charging Program helps you save on the costs of purchasing and installing an eligible Level 2 charging station for an electric vehicle. You can apply for one rebate per home.

Why is this a good idea?

Ev charging station rebates provide an enticing opportunity for individuals and businesses to embrace electric vehicle (EV) adoption while enjoying financial incentives. These rebates, often offered by government agencies, utility companies, and other organizations, aim to accelerate the growth of the EV charging infrastructure. By installing EV charging stations, individuals can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting cleaner transportation. Rebates significantly offset the costs associated with purchasing and installing charging stations, making the transition to electric vehicles and sustainable driving practices more accessible and affordable. As electric vehicles become increasingly popular, these rebates play a crucial role in fostering a more eco-conscious and energy-efficient transportation ecosystem.

Call your approved technician to secure this rebate by calling Onsite Heating and Cooling at 604-554-4444.

How to apply:

  1. Purchase and install eligible EV charging equipment.
  2. If you need an electrician to install the charging station, you can call Onsite Heating and Cooling at 604-554-4444
  3. Within 90 days of your equipment installation, apply online for your rebate.
  4. Please provide copies of the following with your application:
    • if the installation work was done by a licensed electrical contractor, a contractor installation form, completed and signed by the licensed electrical contractor who installed the electric vehicle charging station and their paid, itemized receipt or invoice
    • the paid, itemized receipt or invoice for the purchase of an eligible electric vehicle charging station, which should include the name, address and phone number of the Canadian retailer where you purchased the equipment, the purchase date, price (excluding tax), and product make and model
    • if you incurred electrical inspection costs that are not detailed in the installation invoice, include a copy of your paid invoice or receipt itemizing electrical inspection costs and work

Ensure all receipts are clear, legible, itemized and indicate all relevant information for your application.

  1. Please allow up to 90 days for your rebate to be processed. If your application is approved, your rebate will be applied as a credit on your FortisBC electricity bill. Municipal utility customers of Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro will receive their rebate as a cheque from FortisBC.

If selected, you may be required to participate in a site visit to verify the installation of the charging station or in follow-up surveys or interviews on behalf of FortisBC, BC Hydro or the Province of British Columbia.
